2024 World Premieres, Fall 2023 Creative Residency

Colleen Loverde is a dance artist, creator, teacher, choreographer, movement director, rehearsal director, Source Code practitioner (Solvent), writer and floral designer based in Los Angeles.

Colleen’s work is informed by the recognition that in order to evolve, we must be willing to lovingly shed old narratives that no longer (or perhaps never) support our union with our true essence. She appreciates creativity, pleasure, play, curiosity, patience and presence as vital keys into true connection. She believes these connective values are foundational for both creative and healing arts that bring us closer to our highest selves.

In all her roles, she is dedicated to honoring and uplifting the core essence of each individual she creates with (Self included). Oftentimes, this means that in order to welcome our true selves in, we must be willing to lovingly embrace and thank all our parts, “have tea with our demons”, and honor our quiet, sacred|intuitive knowing. In addition to her work with LACDC, Colleen spent much of her professional career working in concert dance with companies like Heidi Duckler Dance, LED, Open Space, Post:Ballet and Northwest Dance Project. With LED, she was both Rehearsal Director and Principal Dancer for LED’s monumental touring physical theater production, Kid Lightning.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 2023, her career has blossomed to infuse both concert and commercial styles.  In addition to her work with LACDC, she is represented by Go 2 Talent and is a core dancer for Lisa Eaton’s BARRED Dance: “a subversive decategorization of the traditions of burlesque and concert dance” where she is the playful lead in Eaton’s film, Not in Surrender. As of late, she is dipping back into creating solo work that excavates, lovingly explores the edges of pleasure|pain, honors our animal wisdom and revels in the beauty of the mundane.

Some of the sublime choreographers she has had the pleasure of working with include Jillian Meyers, Jamila Glass, Mario Glez, Spenser Theberg, Raymond Eijoifor, Lisa Eaton, Daniel Ezralow, Majella Bess, Stephanie Kim, Myles Lavallee, Ihsan Rustem, Wen Wei Wang, Felix Landerer, Patrick Delcroix, Lauren Edson, Noelle Kayser and Franco Nieto.

Alongside her career in dance, she is an avid student of energetic/healing arts, divination and animal medicine. She recently received her certification as an energetic practitioner of Source Code which addresses our coping styles which develop in early childhood, form the basis of the unconscious patterns in our lives, but no longer serve our highest good. Once we fully feel into the energetics of our patterns and let go of attachment to story, they can dissolve and make way for a new way of being that comes from our essence instead of our wounds.

In addition to her creative careers, she loves to journal, read, laugh, play, geek out on flowers, explore nature and be a silly goose.
